In less than two days two boxing stars will be setting of fireworks for thousands of fans across the globe.

One of Mexico's greatest boxing warriors, Juan Manuel Marquez (50-5-1, 37 KOs) will take on Juan "Baby Bull" Diaz in a rematch of their February 28, 2009 fight which was named 2009's Fight of the Year by numerous boxing organizations and media outlets. 

Marquez vs. Diaz II, scheduled for Saturday, July 31, will be for Marquez's Ring Magazine, WBA and WBO Lightweight World titles, and will take place at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. 

Juan Manuel Márquez Méndez, is currently the WBA and WBO Lightweight world champion as well as the current Ring Magazine Lightweight champion. He has also held the IBF, WBA, and WBO Featherweight titles, and the WBC Super Featherweight title. He is the fourth Mexican boxer to become a world champion in three different weight classes after Marco Antonio Barrera, Érik Morales, Julio César Chávez, and later Fernando Montiel.

Juan Díaz, his record is 35-3 (17 KOs) is the former unified WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO world lightweight champion. Diaz has lost three of his past five, including a ninth-round defeat to Marquez in Houston last year, a bout he had firmly within his grasp but then let slip through his fingers. He’s gone 1-1 since, scoring a highly controversial decision over Paul  Malignaggi and then losing in the December rematch.

If Diaz loses to Marquez on Saturday, his days as a top-of-the-marquee boxer are probably over, just six weeks before he turns 27.

The Rematch - July 31 - At the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. 

On February 28, 2009, Juan Manuel Márquez defeated Diaz in the 9th round of a 12 round bout for the unified world lightweight title. In the opening rounds, Diaz appeared to be winning the fight, pinning Marquez on the ropes and occasionally staggering him with big left hands. In the eighth round, Diaz was cut over his eye by a Marquez punch, much like he was in the loss to Nate Campbell. After starting strong in the ninth round, Marquez's precision punching proved to be too much and Diaz was knocked down twice, bringing an end to the fight. This fight was named "Fight of the Year" for 2009 by Ring magazine and ESPN.com.
