WSB Olympic - Professional Boxing

With the WSB draft now just over a month away, it's the last chance for boxers to sign up for the tournament in order to be considered by one of the 12 franchise teams.

The latest boxer to make this move is Nikolajs Grisunins from Latvia. The 26 year-old started his international career back at the start of the new millennium with a bronze medal at the 5th European Cadet Championships in Patra, Greece.

He made the quarter-finals at the 2002 World Junior Championships in Santiago de Chile at 67kg and made the transition to Elite level at the 2005 AIBA World Championships in Mianyang, China, at 75kg.

Since moving up to light heavyweight, he has made the semi-finals at the 2007 Felix Stamm tournament, taken part in the European Olympic Games qualifiers in 2008 and the 2009 AIBA World Championships in Milan.

In 2009 he beat his potential WSB rival Robert Brant in the preliminaries of the World Cup of Petroleum countries in Russia but lost in the semi-final.

More recently, he lost to AIBA World Champion Artur Beterbiev in the semi-finals of this year's Umakhanov Memorial tournament in Makhachkala, Russia in April.
