China's boxers dominated the quarter-final matches in the Women's World Championships at the Garfield Sobers Sports Complex in Bridgetown, Barbados, yesterday, qualifying all seven of their boxers for the semi-finals. Turkey had looked a strong favorite, with six boxers in the running, but only one advanced to the semi-final stages.

The first bouts of the heavyweight competition were held today and China's Li Yunfei opened the action with an impressive show against the USA'S Denise Rico, ending 10:2. She will face Russia's Nadezhda Torlopova in the semi-finals.

India's Kavita beat Adriana Hosu of Romania 9:6 to advance to face Kateryna Kuzhel of the Ukraine. Kuzhel's opponent, Semsi Yarali, was disqualified, bringing a bad day for Turkey to a close.
